Theresa Teeple Obituary

THERESA MARIE TEEPLE (nee Shade)

May 30, 1968 – July 20, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Theresa, at 58 years young. Her courageous journey with cancer came to a peaceful end on July 20, 2026 at Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie, BC.

Remaining to forever cherish Theresa’s memory are her children Sylina (Brad), Terry (Shelley), Andrew (Pam) and Jessica (Simon); grandchildren Rylee, Theo, Lennon and Crosby; siblings John (Marlene), Mary (Arthur), Everett (Marlene) and Margaret; nieces and nephews and their spouses; extended family and numerous friends. She was predeceased by our parents, Peggy and Alan Shade; we take comfort in knowing that they are together again.

Theresa was born on May 30, 1968. She joined our family in 1972, filling our lives with countless memories. From a young age, Theresa had an adventurous spirit and a natural curiosity, ensuring life was never dull in the family household. Theresa had the ability to make friends easily owing to her kindness, quick wit, silly stories, and infectious giggle. A true social butterfly, she made friends wherever life took her.

Theresa always had a deep love for children and wanted to be a mother. In 1990, she welcomed twins, Sylina and Terry, and in the years that followed, her family continued to grow with the arrivals of Andrew and Jessica. Theresa poured her heart into being a mother and later a grandmother; her children and grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and joy.

Athletic from a young age, Theresa enjoyed baseball, swimming, motocross, and karate. One of her proudest accomplishments was representing Team Canada at an international karate competition in Austria in 2013, where she earned two silver medals.

Theresa was one of the hardest-working people we have ever known. She embraced every opportunity that came her way, working in countless roles over the years. No matter the job, she approached it with dedication and her trademark warmth.

Our sister was an adventurous spirit and had an undeniable love of nature. Her wanderlust led her to many places throughout Western Canada, each one another chapter in her life. In the end, her heart brought her back to Fernie, a place where she found a deep connection with the mountains, nature, and the community she loved.

Theresa leaves behind family and friends who will miss her deeply. Our lives are richer because of the memories we shared with her, and the kindness she gave so freely will live on through all who knew her.

We are forever grateful to Melissa, Kayla, and countless other staff at Elk Valley Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Theresa and our family. We also extend heartfelt thanks to both the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation and long-time family friend, Maggie, for their support as we navigated Theresa’s final days.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church (Little Britain, MB) with interment to follow.

Your spirit is now free to roam the mountains that you loved, and your laughter will echo in our hearts always. We love you Theresa, be at peace.
