Thomas (Tom) David Ross

July 15, 1960 – May 25, 2026

Tom Ross of Petersfield, MB passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026. His loss is completely unexpected, and his family, friends, and loved ones are profoundly saddened.

Born July 15, 1960 (65 years-old) to Jessie and David Ross in Kingston, ON, Tom grew up as a military brat with his older sister Ann and younger brothers Don and Ian. In his childhood, his family moved around frequently, living in Germany and various places across Canada. Eventually his family settled in Innisfail, AB, where Tom spent his high school years and made many lifelong friends.

Tom was a man with many interests and hobbies, too many to list. He loved history, sci-fi, and fantasy, and would spend many nights watching Time Team into the late hours. Tom was a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan, never missing an opening game, since 1976. He also enjoyed watching curling, cheering on our Manitoba teams.  He loved spending time with his family, whether that was enjoying the outdoors with his son, David, playing Pokemon Go with his daughter, Alexandra, or a winter vacation in Negril, Jamacia with his wife, Sandra. Tom also loved animals, and you could often find him wrestling with Mirage, David’s dog. Those that knew him well know that Tom loved to garden, both inside and outside. He had a passion for growing roses, which can be seen in the beautiful rose bushes in the front yard. He spent hours a day caring for his roses, and his family will keep them thriving in his memory.

Tom recently retired in May 2025 from 43 years of service at Federated Insurance Company, in Winnipeg MB, where he was a Manager, Field Training. During his career he made a lasting impact on those he taught and worked with, influencing the sales journeys of so many in the company. Tom possessed an uncanny ability to connect with just about anyone and his generosity knew no bounds. He was not only generous in life, but also in death as a tissue donor.

Tom was an incredible husband, father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra of 32 years, daughter Alexandra (Bill), son David (Summer), sister Ann (Morley), and brothers Don (Dea) and Ian (Heather). In addition, Tom is remembered by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date.

Although Tom is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
