Tillie (Tekla) Franz

 
Tillie Franz (nee Chobotiuk), aged 95 years, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2021, at the Fred Douglas Lodge.
 
Tillie was born in Meleb, to John Chobotiuk and Mary Zapotochny, sister to Nicholas, Steve and Rose. In her late teens she moved to Winnipeg in 1942 and worked at Peerless Laundry- packing clothes. She lived with sister Rose and lived on Cumberland Street.
 
In 1944 Tillie met and married Adam, her husband of 66 years, and they farmed on the Franz family homestead until they retired to Gimli in 1974. In 2004 ill health forced Adam to move to Red River Place in Selkirk, while Tillie moved to Winnipeg (2004). On December 7, 2007 she moved to Fred Douglas Lodge.
 
Adam predeceased Tillie in 2010. Tillie will be remembered for her garden, her flowers, her cooking and baking.
 
She is survived by her children, Ardene, Robert, Reverend Frank, Lorraine (John), Loretta, Vernon (Jayne), Arnold, Perry, Glen (Janice) and Debbie (Glen); also grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
