Ulrich (Rick) Reinhardt

Ulrich Reinhardt

03 July 1934 – 23 December 2025

Peacefully on December 23, 2025, with his family by his side, Ulrich (Rick) passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital.  He is survived by his wife of 65 years Waltraud (Valerie), his son Alex, daughter-in-law Norma, and his grandchildren Bryce and Lindsay.  Rick was born in Germany in 1934 and lived in a small town with his mom and three brothers.  With limited employment opportunities after the war, he became a tailor.  He actively participated in athletics and team handball as sport was a popular form of socialization at that time. 

The family immigrated to Winnipeg in 1968 where Rick worked in the garment industry for many years; he followed that up with a career in sales.  The family travelled extensively in Canada and the US after their arrival in Winnipeg to “see all the sites.”  Rick and Valerie moved from Winnipeg to a five acre lot in St. Andrews where they lived for 37 years before moving back to a more manageable condo in Winnipeg in 2024. 

We want to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital urgent care, and 3rd floor units 4 and 5 for their care and support.  A private service will be held at a later date.   

As he always used to say:

Die Deutschen Eichen fallen nicht, die rauschen nur, or in English, the German oaks don’t fall, they only rustle.
