It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and sister, Verna Kaczmar, born February 3, 1945, lost her short but courageous battle with lung cancer on August 17, 2025, at the age of 80.

Verna was the cherished wife of Jerry Kaczmar, whom she shared 56 years of marriage. and the proud mother of Charlene, Carol (Jeremy), and Tammy (Tom). She was a strong and fiery woman who once bravely beat breast cancer, and though lung cancer took her too soon, her spirit remained unshaken.

She leaves behind her much loved grandchildren Christopher (Brittany), Graham Cody (Jenny), Jordin, and her “adopted, but not really” grandson Colby, who held a special place in her heart. Nothing brought her more joy than being “Baba” to her great-grandchildren Lily, Bella, Blair, and Brynne, whom she adored and spoke of with pride.

After moving with Papa into an apartment to make life easier, Baba—being true to herself—insisted on returning to the country property after only a year. She always knew what she wanted and made sure it happened. One of her strongest wishes was to never enter a personal care home, and with the help of Homecare, we were able to honor that wish and keep her at home with us.

Verna touched the lives of many, and her family and friends now share in this deep loss. She will forever remain in our hearts, leaving a space that cannot be filled.

As per her wishes, there will be no formal service, though a celebration of life may be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Our mother was so loved, and her memory will live on in all of us.
