Victoria Thoreen (Johnson) Larabie

February 16, 1934 - May 3, 2026

Peacefully on Sunday, May 3,2026 Mom passed away at Selkirk General Hospital.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Annelise Lupyrypa and Darlene Herron; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Victor & Lena Johnson, husband Sylvio, and her brother & sisters and their wives, son Denis, grandson Brent and sons-in-law Glenn & Ted.

Mom was born in Gimli, MB and grew up on the family farm on Ponemah Road.  She met Sylvio (dad) while working CFB Gimli.  Dad was born in Quebec and his english wasn't that good at the time but by the time they married in November 1955 his english was much better.   Denis came along in 1956, Annelise in 1957 and Darlene in 1960. They lived on the family farm until 1965 when the family moved to Selkirk.  They settled on Breezy Point Road.  Mom worked various jobs but her favorite was 17 years at Selkirk General Hospital, starting out at the hospital on Eveline Street and then moving over to the new (now old hospital) on Easton Drive. Once retired they purchased a motor home and started going camping and fishing mostly to Hecla and a few places just across the border and always took the grandkids with them.  If they weren't away camping they had a small herd of goats and a flock of chickens to keep them busy, along with their garden and always had grandchildren over.  They also always enjoyed driving back out to the farm on Ponemah Road visiting Denis and his family.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

Flowers are declined and donations in her memory can be made to a charity of your choice.

A grateful thank you to Selkirk General Hospital, Dr. Bhullar, the nurses and health care workers and anyone else involved in her care while she was on ward Medicine 4 for your care of our mom.
