William Barilski Obituary
William Barilski
July 28, 1934 – May 15, 2026
Bill passed away in the Selkirk Regional Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Kathy just a few months earlier, he is lovingly remembered by his sons David, Darren (Debbie) and Allan, his granddaughters Katelyn and Robyn, as well as many other family members.
Born on a farm in 1934 in Rosenburg, MB, Bill then moved to Okno, MB until grade 8. In 1955, he joined the navy where he trained in Cornwallis as a helicopter mechanic until 1960. After the navy he became a helicopter mechanic in Dawson Creek, B.C.
He married Kathy (Krauchi) in 1963 and had 3 sons. He worked for the majority of his life as a private journeyman electrician, drawing inspiration for his business name “Satellite Electric” from the car he owned, a 1971 Satellite Sebring.
Around the age of 50, Bill tried and succeeded at many other jobs, such as top new real estate agent, an investment property owner, starting his own lawn fertilizing business, cutting grass for the RM of St. Andrews, and working briefly for Larter’s golf course. But he still always took on various electrical jobs, wiring rec rooms, garages, etc for family and friends. Bill loved life and was a big kid at heart, still wanting to have and use big kid toys like quads, and snowmobiles well into old age. He will be missed!
Memorial services will be held June 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed via the following link: https://youtube.com/live/w8U35tqdf0g?feature=share
