Margaret (Marge) Laycock

Peacefully, on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Marge Laycock, aged 78 years of Selkirk, MB went to be with her Lord.

Marge leaves her husband of 52 years, Bev; children Chris, Sandy, Barb and Rob; her daughter-in-law Laura whom she thought of as her daughter; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Alayna (Kevin), Presley Grace; Naomi (Dan), Mika and Leah; Bryan (Adrielle), Savannah; Danny (Amanda); Lauren and Graham (Tamara); Stuart; Susannah (Doug); Kaelyn (Jordan), Bradley; Morgan; Caleb (Lisa) and Levi; brothers and sisters, John (Eileen), Suzanne, Kim (Wayne), David (Betty-Ann), Marlene, June (Marc) and Jim (Linda); in-laws, Olga, Rick and Erhard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents David and Susana and siblings Abe, Dick, Ben, Anne, Kathi and Lynn.

Born in Gretna, MB on April 14, 1939, one of fourteen children. She grew up and went to school in Steinbach. Mom was in the Health Care profession most of her working career both in nursing homes and for Home Care. She had a true gift with the elderly often being their voice and proponent to ensure everyone was cared for properly and treated with respect. She also enjoyed cooking at the Petersfield Hotel for numerous years.

She loved to call BINGO playing as many nights a week as she could. She also enjoyed making crafts, knitting, crocheting and was a wonderful cook and baker. But mostly she loved spending time with family especially her grand and great-grandchildren.

There was never any doubt in your mind whether or not she liked you, one would be safe to say she was quite direct.

A celebration of Marge’s life will be held on Friday, November 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk.

A very heartfelt thank you to her angels at the Selkirk Hospital, the nurses and aides that cared for her with love and respect, also to Laura, Theresa and Adelaide for your many visits. She loved you all and know she will continue to pray for you all.

Blessings to Padre David, Fr. Stan and Archdeacon Mawejje for your spiritual care and prayers.
