As Robert's 1st wife, I hadn't seen him for many many years. But he still occupied a small corner of my heart. My own husband having died of cancer, I know what you have gone through, Nienke, and I wish you strength and courage as Robert's journey on this earth has come to an end. He is gone but not forgotten by you and your family.

I found out about Robert's passing just this morning, and I truly wish i could be at the memorial today.
I can't begin to express enough sympathy for Nienke and the rest of the family.
Robert was a true gem of a man. A thoughful, intelligent, gentleman, in a time when that seems rare.
To lose a husband and father like him is awful. To lose him to cancer is even worse.
I looked forward to seeing him once a year at Christmas, Now, it's going to be a different emotion all together. I truly wish i had spent more time with him. (as Robert and I had always expressed a desire for) Godspeed Robert.

I 've never met Robert as far as I know so I cannot say anything more then to give my deepest condolences to my niece Nienke the children Peter and Marianne, and grandchildren.
