Dear Donna's family,
I'm so sad to hear that Donna has crossed over to be with the Creator. I was looking forward to meeting her. My sister and I found her book Nahoway. We are distant cousins. When our mother died we went on a quest to find more information on our Cree grandmother. Reading Donna's book was amazing. We also found and read the book "West of the Mountains" on James Sinclair's life. I had communicated with Donna January of 2017 to tell her we wanted to come to Winnipeg, meet her and see Nahoway's tomb and the rest of the family historical places. We are now going to make that trip August 2018. I'm so sad Donna will not be there. Reading her obit gives me more connection to her. I too have a love of horses. My sister and I are very connected to the Native American culture, to hiking, nature. This is no accident as we share the same blood. We are going to drive across Canada to see for ourselves Sinclair pass where our ancestor James Sinclair led the way to Walla Walla, Washington. I can only hope and pray this message gives you comfort. I'll be looking for signs from Donna to lead us on our journey. Love Susan Davis. 515-238-9324.

Although I did not know Donna, her daughter, Katie, is an incredible human being, so she must have been as well. I wish you all love and wonderful memories as you cope with her loss. Never doubt she is with you forever and at peace in her new home.
